My day-does working at home count as exercise???

Today was my day off. My day off always consists of errands, yard work, housework, laundry, and sometimes cooking.
Today I weed wacked our postage stamp sized yard. I bought a weed eater thinking I could keep up with the yard thru the winter since the grass hardly grows at all in FL winter. You just get straggly weeds here and there. But I discovered that it is too much for my cyctocele rectocele issues and will not be doing it again unless I do it in little bits on different days. I thought I could save us some money but I may have to just pay the man to do it.

Baked a turkey breast this AM, had some for lunch and fixed a really nice evening meal for hubby. Did the laundry but still have the last of two loads in the dryer. That may not get folded till tomorrow. Managed to get several apples peeled sliced and in the freezer but have many more to go. Will do that over the next few evenings. I am finished for today. Must go to work tomorrow. Need to begin my T-tapp again but procrastinating because of hurting. I am bad, I know.

Gardening

Worked hard today at gardening. 1-2 hours moving dirt to put around base of my Wooden Square (see Overwhelmed.com blog page). Also got 2 blueberry bushes and a blackberry bush planted that my eldest son's family gave me for Mother's Day. Worked at scratching the ground to apply grass seed in the front yard around Wooden Square as it is basically non-existent from the drought. Planted a burpless bush cucumber and 1 green bell pepper plant. Worked till I was red in the face and sweating all over. Will try to T-Tapp tonight. Going to a friend's house for a cookout around 2PM. Lost 2 pounds this week. Yipee!

Daily Log

I forgot to take my FBG today but I did take it after lunch to see how I am processing. About 1 hour after lunch it was 92. It was 192 after eating too many muffins the other night. As I said before I do not wish to repeat that experience.

I decided to walk this evening around our mobile home park up and down every street and logged 1.97 miles. I listened to my mp3 player to an audio Bible reading of Numbers. I am working my way through the Bible having started with Genesis. Walking and listening to the Bible seems a good way to redeem that time. Mind and Body working for the Lord.

I am thinking of T-tapping one day and walking the next through the week. I am trying to be careful of my knees. I don't want to get them so sore that I have to layoff for weeks.
Food Log: 1 Belgian Waffle with butter, real maple syrup and 1 egg.
1 cup of Lactose Free Reduced Fat Milk
Quarter Pounder w/cheese, a few fries, diet coke
Mixed Fruit Smoothie
2 snacks-1/2 cup no sugar added ice cream w/small wedge angel food
cake
A few potato chips, diet coke

Checking in again

Thursday May 21 my FBG was 89
Friday May 22 my FBG was 92
Saturday May 23 my FBG was 99

I was very careful on Wednesday watching that I kept my sugar intake on the low side and was rewarded with the Thurs. low. I was very pleased with that. Thursday was the day we ate out late in the evening and was surprised that Friday was as good as it was. Friday night I made the yummy Apple muffins that my daughter'-in-law recommended and I ate too many of them. I had a racing heart and feeling that my insides were vibrating for quite a while. I do not want to repeat that. Very uncomfortable. I think I am coming to terms more with my diabetes diagnosis and want to reverse it even more than ever.

Thursday AM I did my T-Tapp routine, Friday skipped because of fatigue and knee concerns and I missed again Saturday. So I T-tapped 3 days of 5 so far this week. Will try to publish a food log daily so that I stay on top of my sugar issues.

I helped daughter today(Saturday) man handle 6-40 pound bags of cow manure compost, 6 of mushroom compost, equal amounts of peat moss and perlite to fill up her 3 square foot gardening squares. We dumped 1 of each type of bag in a tarp, flipped it around to mix, dragged it to the receiving square and dumped it. That was a bit of exercise, I do believe, so I didn't skip all physical activity today:-)

This is all I can handle for now. I have not been doing any exercise for quite a while. It is amazing how fast one loses ground in ability and stamina.

2009 T-Tapp 60 day Challenge

OK! I"m in! Got my pictures taken last night. Got to fill out my paperwork to enter. Here is hopin' I get the job done this time and actually meet my goals. 60 days of doing right eating and exercising ought to produce the correct outcome. I want off my metformin and to eliminate the acid reflux discomfort at night. Also the tight around the middle feeling. I hate it!! Also plan to do some gardening along the way which will increase my Vitamin D intake and give a little extra exercise boost.

My daughter and grandchildren are going to help me Monday get my 4sq. ft garden installed in my front yard. Plan to put in flowers and veggies in the Square Foot Gardening Method.

Looking forward to seeing how my son, daughter, and daughter-in-law do this time on the challenge as well.

Tuesday February 10

I walked tonight!!!! Hooray!!! Total steps for today as monitered by my birthday present pedometer 9,621 steps. I had to remove my battery early in the day and lost some morning steps sooooo maybe I actually walked 10,000 or nearly:-).

Morning FBG 88 I finished listening to Genesis on a borrowed mp3 player while walking. Hubby bought me my own mp3 player for my birthday but don't have anything loaded on it yet. My desire is to listen to the Bible while walking. It will be interesting how long it takes me to get through the entire Bible in this concentrated way. I look forward to it.

My weigh in on Saturday was 168.

I'm bad :-(

I have not walked for over a week. The weather has been very cold for this Florida acclimated transplant. I know that is an excuse but it is also true! I hope to get back in to the swing of things with walking this next week.
I don't feel well generally and the activity may improve my mental and physical stamina as well as burn calories which has to cause weight loss eventually.

My fasting blood glucose was 89 this am which I am pleased with. It has been in the 90's the last couple of weeks and I prefer to see it in the 80's giving much more wiggle room. Always wanting to stay under 100. I did weigh in 2 weeks ago at 168. I think that is down 2 pounds from previous weigh in.

Walking

Yesterday Jan 18 and today Jan 19 I made myself get out and walk. Last night's walk occurred after a whole day of a miserable headache. After finally getting some relief in the evening I decided to walk in hopes that it would get the circulation going and help further improve my head situation. When I finished I felt good and took a shower and washed my head. There was still some soreness on the left side of my head but still felt better.

Tonight I got a late start. I had to take care of a nearly due sales tax report. Got started walking at 9pm and finished at 9:30pm. Both nights I walked 1.9 miles by the pedometer. I had to stop tonight because of discomfort in my hips. I didn't want to overdue so that I would not be able to work on my job well tomorrow. I would like to get a pedometer that measures steps. I want to be like soleman and get in 10,000 steps a day.

Trying to watch the quantity of food eaten. Will do better on the quality as I gain energy to plan and prepare the food we need to eat. I DO NOT want to buy fast food any more!!!!

Step #3

I am exceedingly tired tonight and think I will go to bed early. It is 8:30pm now. I have been retiring too late for me the last many nights around 11ish. I am done for today:-)

I hope to get my blood glucose test strips soon as I have run out. Meant to get them tonight and forgot :-(. I want to start posting my morning fasting blood glucose.

Step #2

We walked again last night Jan.11. It was a beautiful night with cool air, a slight breeze. I felt very good and thought perhaps we would add an extra street onto our once around the park walk. However as we came up the last street on the first round, I knew I couldn't do the extra bit. So we stopped with once around.

A step forward

Tonight hubby and I went for a walk once around our park. That was enough for a start. I am going to have to start setting aside time for planning- shopping/w/coupons even if I have to take a half day off to get it accomplished. I have been working extra hours and need to back off and try to get my home back as a priority. We both need to get the weight off and eating out is costly in a monetary way and a health way.
